We all have blogs and we read each other's blogs. Do I know anyone else to tag? No. So, I'm making up my own rules (see below). Please see Ginger's Blog to understand this entry. Thanks a lot Maria!
Original Rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged you
2) Post the rules on your blog (this is what you are now reading)
3) Write 6 random things about yourself (see below)
4) Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them
5) Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
Ginger's Side note: I’m not doing this. They all read my blog.
6) Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
Ginger's other Side note: I actually don’t know what this means – I’m just copying the rules from Maria’s blog.
So, since I don't have anyone else to "tag" for this particular one, I'm going to start a new tag. All the same rules apply except for #3. This time, list three occupations you'd like to try other than the one you're doing right now. To be fair, I'll answer the original #3 and the one I made up.
Six Random Things About Me:
1. I love to be the first to know everything! I hate not knowing things (especially celebrity gossip). I like being the person people come to for the information. This is probably why I do what I do.
2. I enjoy math. I know. Weird. All my friends make fun of me and actually don't believe me when I tell them that I always got the best grades in my math/science classes. Geometry, statistics, algebra, chemistry, biology, etc. I don't know why, but I liked those classes and always did well in them. I think it's because I am a rule follower and those subjects have clear rules. Nothing is ambiguous. It is what it is. Which leads me to my #3.
3. I am a rule follower. I don't like taking risks even if it means something great in the end. I like to know what's in store for me and don't like the unknown. It's a bit of a weakness for me and I try to work on it everyday, but it's hard. Life needs to be predictable or else I go crazy!
4. I wish I was more spontaneous! I wish I could get up and go without thinking twice. My life would be way more fun even though I think my life is perfect the way it is- predictable!
5. I like to play with my earing back. This fetish started when I was little with my blankets. I would roll up little pieces of it and roll it back and forth between my fingers (kind of like a boogie). It went away for a while then it returned for some odd reason in college. I do it when I'm bored and when I'm deep in thought (shut up Hammel).
6. I believe no one should take themselves too seriously. I make fun of myself a lot. I laugh at myself and do and say funny things to make people laugh or smile. I enjoy doing it because if I can make at least one person laugh, it makes my day. So, I guess it's a bit selfish. But the rules said to list only 6 things, so I can't go into how selfish I am on this tag.
Three Occupations I'd Like to Try Other Than the One I'm Doing Now:
1. A celebrity. Someone famous. Who wouldn't want to be famous? I'm not talking Britney Spears or Paris Hilton famous. I'm talking Angelina Jolie famous. Or Katie Holmes famous. All the things I could do....
2. An inventor. How cool would it be to invent something that people would use everyday? Like a post-it, or stapler, or pen? Plus, if I invented something cool, I'd probably be a celebrity so I'd accomplish two at the same time.
3. A graphic designer. My friend Ginger inspires me. She's so creative and is really good about thinking with that side of her brain. I wish I could do that more. I wish I could create the fun things she creates and have the patience to do it.
Okay, so here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List three occupations you'd like to try other than the one you're doing now.
4. Tag five people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. I left out the original #6 because it does not make any sense.
Here are the five people I'm tagging:
1. Ginger- you suck. Thanks for tagging me and leaving me with no one else to tag. Love you!
2. Kelly- sorry to do this to you. But, I'm genuinely interested in what you have to say.
3. Lisa- you got out of the original tag, so I'm bringing you in on this one. You can thank me later. :)
4. Kim- you also got out of the original tag. Welcome to the club!
5. Finally, Maria. I don't have access to your blog anymore, but I hope Ginger can pass this "tag" along to you. The one that started this. This is my gift to you. Do with it what you will.
Iron Mountain. Not sure if that's considered a real mountain like Mt. Everest or Mt. Blah Blah somewhere in Asia, but it sure felt like a mountain. It was about 6 miles round trip and my butt, thighs, and back felt every mile. But, it was SO much fun and a beautiful view! So worth it! And, it was cool because there was a mailbox at the top with a tupperware filled with notes from other people. It was fun to read through some of them and leave a note too. (Isn't my mom cool with the fanny pack? Actually, I'm glad she has it because it carries a lot of stuff like water, band-aids, chapstick, a phone, mirror, money, etc. Everything you need when you're in the wilderness. At least when you're in the wilderness with the Link women!)
Has been renewed! Ginger came over yesterday and she taught me more tools and fun ways to create a page. Thanks G for helping me! Here a few I've created since. Mike created one too. Can you guess which one is his? The answer is at the bottom. Mike- thank you for participating! I love that you wanted to create a page for Y. She'll love it!
Did you guess which one is Mike's page? It's the 5th month one. Good, right?!
It's been a while since my last update. We haven't been that busy, but time does get away from you when you have an 8-month old!
Ysabel has been doing great! She loves to eat and enjoys trying new things. I even had her try some tuna and she loved it. It's music to our ears because it's important to us that she at least try things once. I also am planning for a sushi partner eventually. We took her to get professional pictures taken last weekend and it was a huge success. Our expectations were pretty low (having a pretty bad experience at BRU), but when they brought the pictures out we were so happy. I can't post them here, but you will be getting copies! :)
We've been working on crawling and getting into a sitting position from her belly. I'm bummed that she's not crawling yet, but I know it's a not a "milestone" doctors look for. A lot of babies go to walking without crawling. She's made attempts to crawl, but no movement yet. She prefers face planting and scooting around by rolling. The sitting up from her belly is something she NEEDS to learn. She loves sitting up and sometimes when she reaches for a toy, she falls over, but can't get back up. She gets frustrated, I get frustrated...I'm sure she'll get it eventually!
While I'm listing the two things she hasn't mastered yet, I should probably talk about all the other things she IS doing! She's learned how to say, "uh oh" which cracks us up. She has no idea what it means but we all repeat it after she says it. I'm sure she's confused. She's still babbling up a storm and loves to stand on her feet and practice walking holding on to mommy and daddy. Y has also pulled herself up onto the furniture and likes to stand and play. Eating is fun for her too. She likes to feed herself and she has her pincer down! Finally (I'm sure I'm forgetting something) she can wave hi and goodbye, knows her name when we say it, and smiles a ton. Have I made up for the not crawling and sitting up from her belly concerns I have? I know I feel better! ;)
I've rekindled my excitement around digital scrapbooking. I've wanted to do a page for each month of Y's life and I was able to accomplish that. Ginger is coming over on Friday to help me make them look better. I wish I had her creative eye. If you haven't looked yet, check out her blog. She does such a good job. Once I get the pages to where I want them, I'll post them. They're almost there.
Mike and I are having a blast together. We went to dinner and a movie on Saturday night and had so much fun! It was nice to be out without Y, but of course we missed her. And, we feel so lucky to have my parents to watch her when we just want to run out really quick. There are definitely some benefits to being under the same roof and living close by for that matter.
Anyway, enough chatter. I'll post some pictures since that's really all you want. :)
You are my work husband, friend, co-worker, mentor, my daughter's uncle, and so much more.
I saw Dan today and he mentioned that he didn't see any pictures of himself on the blog (specifically pertaining to Adrienne's birthday). Well Dan, here are some pics that I have of you. We love you and you have a special place in our hearts. :)
It seems the DiProfios are always going going going. We can't sit still. There is always something to do, errands to run, fun things to do, etc. This is the first weekend in a really long time that we really don't have anything scheduled- besides a much anticipated wedding reception for our friends Nicole and Andrew, and some small errands. And, the exciting news is we don't have a single activity planned for the next handful of weekends! Amazing. I'm sure we'll plan some stuff, but right now it's nice to have nothing on the calendar.
So, in my spare time (Mike is at Costco and Y is napping), I thought I would update our blog since I haven't done that in a while.
Ysabel is changing everyday! She's starting to scoot on her belly and trying to crawl. She's not quite there yet, but she'll do it in due time. She's talking up a storm (ma ma, da da, ba ba, na na) and seems to recognize some words we say like "baby", "Ysabel", "dada", and "more". It's so fun watching her change and learn new things. She's still as happy as could be, but growing a bit impatient when she doesn't get what she wants (like chewing on the remote control or one of our cell phones). She's also in a bit of a routine and schedule which is so nice. We'll see how long that lasts though. I've put my foot in my mouth a few times. It's also really nice to see her interact with Brody and Chase. She loves watching cousin B and laughing at him. She's also really gentle with baby Chase and likes just watching him. That makes me feel really good! And, Ysabel is a really good eater! She loves all kinds of food we give her in addition to her baby food. She's tried salmon, tuna, chicken, raisins, plums, and more. I hope she continues to love all sorts of foods like her mommy does!
Here are some recent pictures of Ysabel.
Mike and I had a great time at Adrienne's birthday last weekend! It was nice to get out just the two of us and hang out with friends.
What a fun-filled weekend! I love spending long weekends with my family. It's so nice to have Mike home that extra day and feel like we don't need to run errands the whole time. I think every weekend should be three days! Anyway, the 4th was awesome- we went to Uncle Juniors for a BBQ and some swimming. Ysabel's first time in the pool was a total success! She loved it. Especially her pink dolphin floatie!
We headed home early and listened to the fireworks from the house. Early night, but we had to get ready for....Camping! I know. I'm way out of my element this weekend being outdoors the entire time, but I have to give my daughter the experiences, right?!
Ysabel had a blast camping with Abi and Grandpa. Cousin Kelly, Brandon, and Noah all came down too which was so much fun! Ysabel loves little kids and she was definitely flirting with Noah.
Finally, just a picture of Ysabel dressed up in her 80's outfit. We were going for a walk and just threw something on her which ended up being quite cute especially with the hat.
Thanks everybody for making Ysabel's first 4th of July so great! She had a blast (and now mommy and daddy are paying for it because she is over tired and won't nap. I guess we'll spend the next week getting her back in her routine.)!
This is of Ysabel eating all by herself.
Ysabel really loves seeing other babies. She knows the word "baby" and smiles and waves whenever we say it. We recently went to the fair to celebrate Charley's birthday and a friend of the Marchesanos had their cute baby girl Stella there (1 month older than Y). They had so much fun together!
And, she loves to "help" me fold laundry. She actually plays with the laundry basket. Here's an example. She did this all by herself...
And, finally, this is how I found her sleeping this afternoon. Such a silly girl.
It's fun right now because she's "scooting" along the carpet and doing really well on her belly. She'll be crawling before we know it. I guess she falls asleep practicing. She's also learning to stand on her own (lean against something) which is cool because the next step is "creeping" along the furniture. Nana- you better start Ysabel proofing. And, she's getting her second tooth. Crazy and so fun!
